  • Mini Dental Implants

Struggling with missing teeth or unstable dentures can affect every part of your life, from the foods you can enjoy to the confidence you have in your smile. At San Francisco East Bay Mini Dental Implants, Dr. Rose Magno provides mini dental implants to securely anchor crowns, bridges, and dentures. These innovative implants are an ideal solution for those dealing with tooth loss or unstable prosthetics. With mini dental implants, you can eat the foods you love, improve your nutrition, speak clearly, and smile confidently! If you’re looking for a transformative tooth loss solution that won’t break the bank or disrupt your routines, we can help. Dr. Magno and her team have helped countless patients like you achieve beautiful, functional, and long-lasting smiles with mini implants. What Are Mini Dental Implants? Mini Dental Implants in Emeryville, CA | Dr. Rose MagnoMini dental implants are an innovative type of dental implant that expands options for patients seeking secure and long-lasting tooth replacement. Before their introduction over two decades ago, traditional dental implants were the only option for replacing an entire tooth from the crown to the root. However, the design of conventional implants meant that many people weren’t eligible. Here’s why: a traditional implant is about 5 mm in diameter (about the width of a pencil eraser). To fit in the jawbone, the dentist must cut through the gums and make a large hole in the bone using a series of increasingly larger drills. The implant post is then secured, and the gums are stitched closed. However, because a traditional implant is made up of multiple pieces and requires invasive surgery, the process requires multiple appointments and extended healing periods. For patients with weak or narrow jawbones, dental anxiety, or an inability to undergo oral surgery, conventional implants may not be possible. In some cases, a bone graft is required, adding complexity and cost while extending the timeline for achieving a complete smile. Fortunately, mini dental implants are an excellent alternative. These narrow-diameter implants are less than 3 mm wide (about the width of a toothpick), making them ideal for patients with bone loss. Unlike traditional implants, mini implants are just one slim piece, allowing Dr. Magno to place them in a single visit! The Mini Implant Procedure Early in her career, Dr. Magno would place conventional implants, but she recognized that many patients weren’t eligible for this invasive procedure. After seeing the life-changing results of the mini dental implants, she chose to specialize in this innovative solution. Today, San Francisco East Bay Mini Dental Implants is a Mini Dental Implant Center of America (MDICA). As an MDICA, Dr. Magno and her team are committed to providing cutting-edge care with mini dental implant technology. If you need to replace a missing tooth or multiple teeth, here’s what you can expect from the procedure: Consultation: You’ll meet with Dr. Magno to discuss your concerns and the results you’d like to see from the procedure. Dr. Magno will then perform a comprehensive dental exam to evaluate your oral health. At this visit, she’ll also take X-rays to view your jawbone. These images help her determine your eligibility for mini dental implants and precisely plan their placement. If you’re a good candidate, Dr. Magno will design your personalized treatment plan. Mini implant placement: Dr. Magno will use a gentle, minimally invasive technique to secure your mini implants into the jaw. She’ll simply drill a small pilot hole directly through the gums and into the bone tissue. Then, she’ll screw the mini implant into the hole. Because mini implants are remarkably stable as soon as they’re placed in the bone, Dr. Magno can attach a temporary restoration right away. This same-day dental implant solution means you won’t have to go without teeth while the dental lab crafts your custom restoration. Final restoration attachment: In about two weeks, you’ll return to have the temporary tooth replaced with your permanent one. Dr. Magno will securely attach the new restoration, giving you a complete, harmonious, and beautiful smile. If the mini implant process sounds simple, that’s because it is! This innovative technique takes the hassle out of tooth replacement, giving patients an efficient and convenient way to replace their missing teeth.

  • Implant Dentures

What would be most important if you were building a house? Would it be the walls that separate you from the outdoors? Or maybe the roof that keeps out the weather? In reality, one of the most important parts of a house is its foundation. When built on something soft like sand or loose dirt, the walls may shift, and the roof can collapse. When built on concrete or stone, the house remains upright and sturdy. The same comparison can be made for dentures! Traditional dentures rest on your gums and jawbone, which unfortunately don’t provide a steady foundation. Implant dentures, however, have a stable foundation with mini dental implants. Dr. Magno at San Francisco East Bay Mini Dental Implants uses these implants to secure a variety of dentures that are functional, secure, and beautiful in your mouth! Understanding the Faults of Traditional Dentures Traditional dentures are one of the most popular replacement options for people who have lost their teeth. While they may be affordable and effective at replacing teeth, they also bring a lot of drawbacks that can reduce your quality of life. Common issues with traditional dentures include: Irritation and denture sores: Lower dentures become looser over time, irritating your gums as they slide around in your mouth. This irritation is highly uncomfortable and often leads to denture sores, which make wearing your dentures painful. Trouble chewing foods: Due to their instability, traditional dentures lack the strength to chew certain foods. Tougher meats or hard vegetables can be almost impossible to chew, resulting in unfortunate diet changes. This can lead to nutritional deficiencies and unhealthy weight loss, as eating can become painful or tiresome. Slips and mishaps: As these dentures aren’t stable in your mouth, they can slip or fall out when talking, eating, or laughing. Some denture wearers find this embarrassing and avoid socializing as a result! Additionally, traditional dentures are easier to lose or break as they fall out easily. Implant dentures, in contrast, provide excellent stability that keeps you smiling confidently. Implant Dentures in Emeryville, CA | Dr. Rose Magno Why Choose Implant Dentures? When you lose a tooth, you not only lose the part that shows above the gumline (the crown). You also lose the structure hidden below, embedded into the jawbone. This structure is called the tooth root, as it holds your tooth in place similarly to the roots of a tree. When you chew or bite, your root stimulates the jawbone, helping maintain its mass and volume. After losing a tooth, you lose stimulation, and your bone will begin to resorb, losing mass and volume. Unfortunately, anyone who has lost a tooth suffers from bone resorption to some extent. Over time, the jawbone will lose density and shrink, drastically changing the shape of the facial structure. Additionally, losing jawbone mass and volume makes receiving a dental implant more difficult. A traditional implant is about 5 millimeters in diameter and requires a hole that size to be drilled into the bone. A weakened bone cannot house such a large implant, which means many need a bone graft to be eligible for a traditional implant. Implant dentures solve this problem, as dental implants are used as artificial tooth roots to stabilize the denture and maintain jawbone health. With an implant denture, you can laugh, talk, and eat securely, knowing your denture is stable in your mouth!

  • Full-Mouth Reconstuction

Dealing with a single dental issue can be challenging, but living with multiple problems can feel like an uphill battle, impacting nearly every aspect of your life. Severe dental issues affect your ability to eat, speak, and smile confidently. They can also take a toll on your self-esteem, social interactions, and even your overall health. Pain, discomfort, and difficulty chewing can make daily routines feel like a struggle, while missing or damaged teeth might cause you to hide your smile. Fortunately, full-mouth reconstruction offers a comprehensive solution to restore your oral health, function, and confidence, helping you reclaim the quality of life you deserve! What Is Full-Mouth Reconstruction? Think of full-mouth reconstruction like building a house from the foundation up. When Dr. Rose Magno recommends this treatment, it’s about creating a solid foundation for your teeth and bite to function properly and look harmonious with your face. By reconstructing your bite and designing the ideal placement for your teeth, Dr. Magno ensures everything aligns perfectly for comfort, health, and beauty. She works closely with dental laboratories to craft a smile that complements your unique features, giving you a brand-new smile that feels and looks just right. Full-mouth reconstruction doesn’t just restore your teeth—it transforms your confidence and quality of life. Who Is a Candidate for Full-Mouth Reconstruction? If you’re experiencing multiple dental issues, you may be a candidate for full-mouth reconstruction. Here are some of the problems we commonly see: Full-Mouth Reconstruction in Emeryville, CA | Dr. Rose MagnoBroken teeth Infected teeth Missing teeth Severely decayed teeth Knocked-out or partially dislodged teeth Advanced periodontal disease Excessively worn teeth Full-mouth reconstruction may be right for you if you’re ready to take control of your health and transform your life. It all starts with reclaiming your smile. If you’re dealing with a mouth full of infection, it’s not just your oral health that’s affected. Dental health has been linked to overall health issues like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, respiratory issues, and more. Missing teeth or severe dental problems can also make it difficult to eat, affect your confidence, and even hold you back from opportunities like finding a job or enjoying social activities. By addressing these issues, full-mouth reconstruction lays the foundation for better health, proper nutrition, and renewed confidence. It’s a treatment that allows you to live your life to the fullest—and it all begins with taking care of your teeth. Potential Treatments Used for Full-Mouth Reconstruction Selecting the right solution for missing or damaged teeth is like choosing the right recipe for a meal—it takes the right ingredients to create something satisfying. With over 25 years of experience and a genuine passion for helping patients smile confidently again, Dr. Magno will carefully design a treatment plan just for you. Full-mouth reconstruction tackles multiple dental issues throughout the mouth, so Dr. Magno may combine different treatments to restore your teeth or use full-mouth dental implants to replace them all at once if needed. Below are some of the common treatment components: Crowns Dental crowns are caps placed over damaged or weakened teeth to restore their structure and appearance. As part of full-mouth reconstruction, crowns can repair individual teeth and provide a foundation for a healthier, more functional smile. Extractions Extraction may be necessary to protect your oral health when a tooth can’t be saved with a root canal, crown, or other treatment. When we remove a tooth, we may place bone grafting material into the socket to preserve the jawbone and prepare for future treatments like dental implants. Mini Dental Implants With Crowns, Bridges, or Dentures Dr. Magno frequently uses mini dental implants as a foundation for full-mouth reconstruction. These prosthetic tooth roots can anchor crowns, bridges, and dentures to restore and complete your smile. An implant-supported crown replaces a single missing tooth, while a bridge is ideal for replacing multiple teeth in a row by connecting them to implants. For patients missing most or all of their teeth, dentures supported by mini implants offer a secure and comfortable alternative to traditional removable dentures. These implant-supported options ensure stability, functionality, and a natural-looking smile.

  • Same-Day Dental Implants

Some things in life just take time—like growing a garden, building a house, or training for a marathon. They all require patience, planning, and a little waiting to get the perfect result. But not everything needs to take forever! Thanks to advancements in dental technology, same-day dental implants are now possible, proving that some things really can be done in just one day! With mini dental implants, Dr. Rose Magno can transform your smile in one day without sacrificing quality. Thanks to their innovative design, mini implants allow for minimally invasive placement, quicker healing, and immediate stability. The best part? You can enjoy a new smile in just one day! What Are Same-Day Dental Implants? Same-Day Dental Implants in Emeryville, CA | Dr. Rose MagnoWhen we talk about same-day dental implants, we’re referring to the time it takes to replace a missing tooth with dental implants and restorations like crowns, bridges, or dentures. With mini dental implants, Dr. Magno can restore your smile in a single visit, even extracting teeth and placing mini implants at one appointment. Here’s what you can expect from the mini dental implant process: Consultation: At your initial visit to San Francisco East Bay Mini Dental Implants, Dr. Magno will discuss your dental goals with you. After an exam, she’ll explain what she thinks are your best treatment options. If you’re eligible for same-day dental implants, we’ll then schedule your procedure. Implant and temporary restoration placement: We’ll begin by making sure you’re completely numb for a comfortable experience. If an extraction is needed, we’ll handle that first to prepare the area. Next, Dr. Magno will create a small hole through the gums and into the bone, gently place the mini implant, and ensure it’s secure. Finally, we’ll attach a functional temporary restoration so you can leave with a complete and functional smile the same day! Final restoration placement: Your final restoration is made in a dental lab to ensure the most aesthetically pleasing and durable result. This can take a couple of weeks. During this time, your mouth will heal, and the implant will fuse with the bone, creating a firm base. When your custom restoration is ready, you’ll come in to have the temporary one replaced. After this visit, you’ll maintain your regular six-month checkups to ensure your beautiful new smile stays healthy! How Do Mini Dental Implants Make Same-Day Restoration Possible? Same-day tooth replacement is possible because of two main qualities of mini dental implants: their slim size and one-piece design. Small Size At less than 3 mm wide, a mini dental implant is about half the diameter of a conventional dental implant. Picture the size difference this way: while a conventional implant is about the width of the cotton tip on a Q-tip, a mini implant is closer to the width of the stick in the center! The narrow diameter of a mini implant allows for minimally invasive placement, less trauma to the surrounding tissues, and much less bleeding. This gentler technique results in quicker healing and less post-operative discomfort compared to traditional implants. Additionally, because the procedure is less invasive, it often eliminates the need for more complex surgeries like bone grafting. This procedure is sometimes required for conventional implants when a patient has insufficient bone density. Thanks to the small size of mini implants, patients rarely need this extra surgery! One-Piece Design The one-piece design also contributes to a more efficient procedure. A traditional implant has multiple components: a large screw and a connector piece called an abutment that secures the restoration to the implant. To place a conventional implant, the dentist must use invasive surgical techniques to embed the screw in the bone. This involves cutting through the gums to reveal the bone beneath, making a large hole using a series of drills, and placing the implant in the bone. Because of the invasiveness, the gums must be sutured closed over the implant so that the surgical site can heal. Then, once fully healed, the gums are again reopened so the abutment can be attached. Unfortunately for patients, the journey to a complete smile with traditional dental implants can be time-consuming and painful. Fortunately, mini dental implants are different. They are just one piece with a built-in connector. That means that once Dr. Magno secures the implant in the bone, the only step left is to connect the restoration itself! And, because mini implants can be immediately “loaded” with a prosthetic, you can leave your appointment with functional teeth! When you choose mini implants, you don’t have to deal with a lengthy treatment timeline or extended waiting periods. The Benefits of Same-Day Dental Implants Same-day dental implants are a convenient and innovative tooth loss solution. Here’s why our patients love this procedure:

  • Restorative Dentistry

Restoration is a powerful concept. It means taking something worn, broken, or incomplete and returning it to its former glory—or perhaps making it even better. Think about the meticulous care required to restore a vintage car, the artistry behind reviving a historic painting, or the effort poured into rebuilding after a storm. Each act of restoration has its unique purpose but always shares the goal of renewal and improvement. Similarly, restorative dentistry renews the health, function, and appearance of your teeth. Whether we’re repairing a cavity with a filling, protecting a damaged tooth with a crown, or replacing lost teeth with dental implants or dentures, our restorative procedures can transform your smile and quality of life. From simple fixes like frenectomies to more comprehensive treatments like implant-supported dentures, our restorative solutions at San Francisco East Bay Mini Dental Implants can give you a reason to smile again. What Is Restorative Dentistry? Restorative Dentistry in Emeryville, CA | Dr. Rose MagnoRestorative dentistry is like repairing the foundation of your house—it focuses on rebuilding and strengthening damaged or missing teeth to restore function and oral health. If you’re dealing with a cavity, a chipped tooth, or missing teeth, restorative treatments like fillings, crowns, bridges, or implants can bring your smile back to working order. Unlike cosmetic dentistry, which is all about aesthetics, restorative dentistry addresses essential repairs to help you eat, speak, and smile comfortably. It’s perfect for anyone with dental damage, decay, or gaps that need to be filled, ensuring your mouth is as strong and functional as it should be. Common Restorative Dentistry Treatments At San Francisco East Bay Mini Dental Implants, Dr. Rose Magno offers comprehensive restorative dentistry services to keep your smile healthy. Crowns and Fillings Dental crowns are caps that we place over damaged or weakened teeth to restore their shape, strength, and function. Often used after root canals or on cracked teeth, crowns made from tooth-colored materials like porcelain enhance your smile while protecting your teeth. For missing teeth, Dr. Magno also specializes in implant-supported crowns, providing a durable and aesthetic replacement for individual teeth. Tooth-colored fillings repair cavities and minor damage with a composite resin that matches your natural teeth. They restore the tooth’s strength and protect against further decay. Like porcelain crowns, their seamless appearance has the added benefit of improving your smile’s look. Root Canal Root canal treatment is a procedure designed to save a tooth that has been severely damaged by infection and inflammation. It involves removing the damaged tissue inside the tooth, thoroughly cleaning the root canals, and sealing them to prevent further issues. This process eliminates tooth pain and preserves the natural tooth. It also restores the tooth’s function, helping you chew and smile confidently again. Dental Implants Dental implants are the most reliable tooth replacement solution available in dental offices today. These metal posts are artificial tooth roots that Dr. Magno places in your jawbone to support a false tooth or teeth. Dr. Magno prefers mini dental implants over conventional dental implants due to their many benefits. Despite their slim design (about half the width of conventional implants), they are strong enough to support crowns, bridges, and dentures. The mini dental implant procedure is significantly less invasive, allowing Dr. Magno to place the implants in a single visit. This means patients can enjoy new teeth in much less time. Her gentle technique minimizes bleeding and discomfort during and after the procedure, leading to a faster recovery. Additionally, mini dental implants are more affordable, as they cost about half as much as traditional implants. For patients, the road to tooth replacement is much smoother with mini implants.

  • Cosmetic Dentistry

Evolutionarily, a smile is one of the first expressions we learn to make. As infants, we smile as an involuntary reaction to internal stimuli, but as we grow more aware of our surroundings, we also begin to smile at external stimuli. However, as evolutionarily important as smiling is, many feel self-conscious about smiling and struggle to do so in front of others. Children as young as 4 years old show sensitivity about the appearance of their teeth, making us hyper-aware of our smiles even in youth. As an adult, you have the power to enhance the appearance of your smile with cosmetic dentistry! Dr. Magno of San Francisco East Bay Mini Dental Implants uses cosmetic dentistry to improve your smile and how you perceive yourself. Feeling insecure about your teeth often leads to smiling less. Fortunately, Dr. Magno can use these innovative procedures to create a beautiful smile that improves your self-esteem! With cosmetic dentistry, you can feel like you again. Common Cosmetic Dentistry Procedures Cosmetic dentistry is a kind of dentistry that enhances the appearance of your teeth so you can feel good about your smile! While some people are born with perfect teeth, others struggle with the appearance of their smile for their whole lives! If you feel self-conscious about smiling, Dr. Magno can help by providing natural-looking solutions! A cosmetic dentistry treatment plan could involve any of the following procedures. Dental Veneers Cosmetic Dentistry in Emeryville, CA | Dr. Rose Magno While many think dental veneers are only for the rich and famous, that’s not the case at San Francisco East Bay Mini Dental Implants! Anyone with healthy teeth who is insecure about appearance is a candidate for veneers! These white sheets of porcelain cover any imperfections of your smile. Dr. Magno simply scrapes the enamel off the surface of the cracked, stained, or crooked tooth, providing room for the veneer to sit flush against your smile. Then, she places temporary veneers on your prepared teeth, allowing you to assess what length, shape, size, and color you prefer. Once your final veneers arrive, Dr. Magno will cement them onto your teeth, providing a beautiful and uniform smile built to last! Your dental veneers will last as long as you care for them properly. Brushing, flossing, coming in for routine checkups, and wearing your provided night guard all help keep your veneers safe and healthy! Dental Fillings Dr. Magno uses dental fillings to repair cavities or patch up a part of the tooth suffering from decay. If left untreated, these small decaying portions of your tooth grow large and painful, eventually necessitating a tooth extraction. Thankfully, Dr. Magno can use a filling to patch up the tooth and improve its structural integrity! While fillings are common in general dentistry, Dr. Magno can use special, tooth-colored fillings to improve the health and appearance of your teeth! After removing the decayed portion of the tooth, she will use a composite resin to fill the hole. Once she creates the filling, Dr. Magno will cure it, hardening the material into a durable solid. Traditional Crowns While Dr. Magno uses traditional crowns for cosmetic purposes to enhance a tooth’s appearance, she also uses them to provide restorative benefits that fortify a tooth’s structure! Traditional crowns are tooth-shaped caps that cover an entire tooth’s structure. Dr. Magno uses these crowns for many purposes, such as enhancing the appearance of a tooth or protecting a decaying tooth from bacteria! To place a traditional dental crown, Dr. Magno must first shave down the tooth she intends to cover. This makes room for the cap to cover the entire tooth, allowing Dr. Magno to place the crown and provide a seamless and beautiful smile.

  • Dental Bridges

A bridge is more than just a structure that connects two places—it’s a way to span gaps, restore connections, and make life easier. Whether it’s a towering suspension bridge or a simple footpath over a stream, a bridge is a solution to gaps that might otherwise limit us. In dentistry, a bridge effectively restores smiles, filling the spaces left by missing teeth. At San Francisco East Bay Mini Dental Implants, Dr. Rose Magno crafts durable, natural-looking dental bridges that improve your oral function and restore the confidence that comes with a complete smile. What Is a Dental Bridge? Dental Bridges in Emeryville, CA | Dr. Rose Magno This traditional bridge is anchored to prepared teeth on each side of the gap. According to the CDC, tooth loss is one of the dental conditions that most impacts your quality of life. Fortunately, there are many solutions for replacing missing teeth and taking back control of your oral health. A dental bridge is a unit of false teeth used when you have lost one or more teeth in a row. We place this restoration over healthy adjacent teeth or dental implants. Unlike a partial denture, a dental bridge is fixed in place, providing increased stability and better oral function. Not only do dental bridges improve your ability to chew properly and speak clearly, but they also prevent your teeth from shifting. This is more important than you might realize. Without a bridge, neighboring teeth can move toward the empty space, changing your alignment. Misaligned teeth create bite issues and make oral hygiene more challenging. By keeping your teeth in their proper positions, a dental bridge maintains the function and harmony of your smile. Types of Dental Bridges Tooth loss looks different for everyone, as the number of teeth affected and the causes—such as injury, decay, or gum disease—can vary greatly from person to person. Fortunately, different types of dental bridges can address various tooth replacement situations. Traditional Fixed Bridge A traditional dental bridge replaces missing teeth by anchoring to healthy teeth on both sides of the gap. The ends act as crowns, while a false tooth is suspended between them to close the gap. For these types of bridges, the adjacent teeth must be healthy and strong enough to support the restoration. To place them, we need to remove some of the enamel from these support teeth so the crown portion fits on top. Cantilever Bridge A cantilever dental bridge is similar to a traditional one, except it is supported on just one end with a dental crown. We may use these to replace back teeth or when there is only one healthy tooth neighboring the gap. Preparation is very similar to a traditional bridge, but we only prepare one support tooth by removing a layer of enamel. Maryland Bonded Bridge Some situations call for a Maryland bridge, which connects to the healthy teeth next to the gap using a different method. The bridge replaces the crowns on each end with a wing-like framework. Instead of crowning the adjacent teeth, we bond the framework to the backside of the support teeth. This procedure is the least invasive since we etch the wings and bond them to the back of the teeth. This conservative approach adds material instead of removing enamel. A Maryland bridge is ideal for replacing front teeth (where chewing forces are lighter) because its wing-like supports aren’t as strong as the crown supports used in traditional or cantilever bridges.

  • Dental Crowns

A dental crown is an incredibly versatile restoration designed to help with various oral health needs. Whether you need to repair a fractured tooth, protect a decayed tooth, or even replace a missing tooth in combination with a dental implant, crowns offer a reliable solution! These crowns are incredibly effective and durable, with ceramic crowns showing a success rate of 95% after 15 years. Here at San Francisco East Bay Mini Dental Implants, Dr. Rose Magno offers custom crowns that blend perfectly with your natural teeth, ensuring a harmonious and seamless smile. The result is a restoration that looks and feels completely natural. With over 25 years of experience, Dr. Magno has helped many patients like you regain confidence and enjoy a beautiful, functional smile! Understanding the Dental Crowns Process Dental crowns are an innovative tool in the restorative dentistry toolbox. This restoration is a “cap” that can be made of metal or a high-quality tooth-colored material, covering your tooth’s entire surface. Utilizing these covers, Dr. Magno can reinforce the structure of a damaged tooth and improve its appearance. The first step to restoring your smile with a traditional dental crown is to schedule a consultation. During this visit, Dr. Magno will perform a comprehensive dental exam to inspect your teeth and discuss any necessary treatments. She will also take an X-ray of your smile to create a personalized treatment plan for your needs. Dental Crowns in Emeryville, CA | Dr. Rose Magno At your first appointment, Dr. Magno will prepare the tooth you’re covering by shaving down the damaged material. Then, she will take an impression of your prepared tooth and send it to a dental lab. Before you leave the appointment, Dr. Magno will provide you with a temporary crown that is both functional and beautiful. A temporary restoration allows you to live normally while you wait the 2-3 weeks it generally takes to make a crown. When your custom crown is ready, Dr. Magno will remove your temporary crown and try on the final restoration. If everything fits and looks as intended, she will cement it in place, ensuring you have a durable and long-lasting solution! Uses for Dental Crowns There are many ways to use a dental crown, all of which restore your smile and enhance its appearance and structure! Some of these uses include: Restoring a damaged tooth: When a tooth sustains damage or decay, it becomes sensitive to temperature and chewing pressure. A dental crown helps fortify your tooth, restoring its function and protecting it from further fracture or infection. Enhancing a tooth’s appearance: Dr. Magno also uses dental crowns for cosmetic dentistry purposes. If a tooth has an imperfection that affects your smile, she can place a crown on top, matching the color of your remaining teeth. With a dental crown, she can make your smile look more beautiful and uniform! Protecting a root canal: A root canal removes infection inside your tooth and seals it to prevent reinfection. We often place a dental crown over the treated area to provide an additional barrier. Replacing a missing tooth: Dr. Magno can also replace a tooth with an implant-retained crown! She will first place the implant in your jaw and then connect the false crown to it. A crown is an incredibly versatile and effective dental procedure for protecting or replacing missing teeth. Whatever your needs, Dr. Magno is committed to providing patient-centered solutions with compassionate care. Why We Use Mini Implants To Support Crowns One of the most reliable ways to replace a missing tooth is using a mini dental implant to secure a crown. A mini implant is a single-piece titanium post that anchors directly into the jawbone. Compared to traditional dental implants, mini implants are much smaller and use a simpler procedure, making them a more accessible and less invasive option. The Benefit of a Smaller Size A traditional dental implant is about 5 millimeters in diameter, whereas a mini implant is less than 3 millimeters wide. Due to their smaller size, these implants require a much less invasive process. To place the implant, Dr. Magno only has to create a small pilot hole in the gums and jawbone. Once she carefully screws the implant into place, it is remarkably stable. This allows her to provide a temporary crown on the same day! Thanks to their minimally invasive placement, mini implants heal much faster than traditional implants. Within about two weeks of the initial procedure, Dr. Magno can secure your final crown. This streamlined approach reduces the treatment timeline from several months with traditional implants to just a few weeks with mini implants.

  • Dental Implants

Choosing the right solution for missing teeth is important for improving your oral health and overall well-being. At San Francisco East Bay Mini Dental Implants, Dr. Rose Magno offers clear, personalized guidance to help you understand your options. For many patients, dental implants are the ideal choice. They create a strong, lasting foundation for replacement teeth, making it easier to enjoy your favorite meals and share your smile with confidence. With innovative mini dental implants, more people than ever before are eligible for high-quality, long-lasting tooth replacement. If you’re living with gaps in your smile, let us help you feel whole again. What Is a Dental Implant? Dental Implants in Emeryville, CA | Dr. Rose MagnoDental implants are medical-grade titanium posts positioned in the jawbone to replace missing teeth. They act as a sturdy base for restorations like crowns, bridges, or dentures. Unlike conventional dentures, which rest on the gums, or traditional bridges that anchor onto surrounding teeth, implants integrate directly with the bone. This process, called osseointegration, creates a stable and durable foundation, allowing the replacement teeth to function similarly to natural teeth. Additionally, since dental implants are essentially artificial tooth roots, they replicate the function of your missing roots. That may not be your immediate concern, but it’s incredibly important. Below the surface of your gums, your natural roots are embedded in your jawbone. The roots don’t just keep your teeth in place—they also maintain your bone health. When you eat, the roots transmit your chewing forces onto the jaw, and this pressure allows for proper blood flow. The blood carries the nutrients the bone needs to stay strong and maintain its mass. This means that replacing your missing teeth with dental implants also supports your long-term bone health. The Benefits of Dental Implants In addition to replacing missing teeth and preserving the jawbone, dental implants provide several other benefits: Durability: Titanium implants are long-lasting and reliable solutions for tooth replacement. With proper care, they can even last a lifetime. Functionality: Implants restore your ability to chew and speak naturally, enhancing overall oral function. Their secure fit allows you to enjoy your favorite goods and speak confidently, knowing your replacement teeth will stay firmly in place. Smile aesthetics: The appearance of implant-supported restorations closely mimics natural teeth, providing a seamless and natural look. Facial aesthetics: By preserving the jawbone and preventing bone loss, dental implants help maintain your natural facial structure. This sets them apart from other options like traditional dentures, which can lead to changes in appearance over time. Convenience: Unlike removable dentures, implants eliminate the need for adhesives and do not require daily removal, simplifying oral care routines. Mini Dental Implants vs. Traditional Dental Implants A traditional dental implant was the first type of dental implant designed to replace a missing tooth from the root to the crown. These implants are made up of a few pieces: The implant post, measuring about 5 mm wide The abutment (a connector piece) The crown, bridge, or denture Because the post is so wide (about the width of a pencil eraser) and there are multiple components, getting even one traditional implant is a lengthy process that involves multiple appointments. Additionally, because the implant is quite large, many people are not eligible for the treatment. This is typically because they don’t have sufficient jawbone space for the implant or cannot undergo oral surgery. While traditional implants are still reliable, modern advancements like mini dental implants offer even better solutions. It’s similar to upgrading from a flip phone to a smartphone or trading in a tube TV for a sleek Smart TV. The sleek design of modern technologies is reflected in the mini dental implant design. At half the size of traditional dental implants, mini implants are more suitable for patients with limited bone density or those who need a less invasive procedure. They’re also a single piece with an integrated abutment. This slimmer, one-piece design allows Dr. Magno to place a mini implant using a much quicker and less invasive procedure. The result? Less pain Less bleeding Less time spent in a dental chair Less healing times Less impact on your wallet Because mini implant treatment is so streamlined and efficient, it’s about half the cost of a traditional implant procedure. This cost savings makes mini implants an attractive choice for those on a budget!

  • Dentures

Losing all of your teeth as a child is a gradual and exciting process. As each tooth falls out, you get to hide it under your pillow for a quarter and watch in awe as a new adult tooth grows in. Losing all of your teeth as an adult, however, is devastating. Life without teeth is difficult and dangerous whether you lose them individually, all at once, or need them extracted due to infection. If you have experienced complete tooth loss, you are far from alone. The prevalence of total tooth loss among adults 65 or older is around 13%, and that percentage only increases with age. So, how do we remedy this unfortunate problem? Thankfully, Dr. Magno of San Francisco East Bay Mini Dental Implants offers a wide variety of dentures that restore your smile! Understanding Traditional Dentures Dr. Magno offers traditional dentures as an affordable and effective option for replacing all your missing teeth. These prosthetics involve a pink base attached to a row of artificial teeth, forming a complete smile. Unfortunately, traditional dentures have a few drawbacks. Partial dentures replace rows of missing teeth on the upper or lower portion of your smile, leaving gaps in the prosthetic for your remaining teeth. In contrast, a full denture replaces the entire row of your upper or lower teeth. An upper full denture uses saliva and suction to stay in place, covering the roof of your mouth. While this may be secure, the upper denture plate covers your upper palate’s tastebuds, preventing you from fully enjoying the foods you love. Additionally, this pink base is often bulky in your mouth, resulting in discomfort or gagging. Lower full dentures rest on your gums and jawbone, which are unstable foundations. While your bone may start out strong, losing a tooth results in bone resorption (the loss of bone mass). As your jawbone loses density, your dentures no longer fit perfectly in the contours of your mouth. This instability makes traditional dentures uncomfortable and even painful to wear, as your gums are irritated by the constant shifting of the prosthetic. But why does tooth loss cause bone resorption? Traditional dentures only replace the crown of your tooth visible above the gum line. The root of the tooth, the part below the gums embedded in the jawbone, is not replaced. With no tooth root to stimulate your jawbone, it will diminish, gradually changing the shape of your face. In many cases, bone resorption prevents you from replacing your missing teeth with traditional implant dentures. Fortunately, Dr. Magno provides another, more stable solution with implant dentures! Securing Dentures With Mini Dental Implants At San Francisco East Bay Mini Dental Implants, Dr. Magno uses mini dental implants to support dentures. Dentures in Emeryville, CA | Dr. Rose Magno These implants are less than 3 millimeters in diameter and consist of only one piece. To place mini implants, Dr. Magno uses a minimally invasive process, requiring no incisions or stitches. First, she will numb the area using a local anesthetic. Then, Dr. Magno makes a small pilot hole in the gums and jawbone, only big enough for the narrow implant to fit. Afterward, she carefully screws the implant in place. Mini dental implants are remarkably stable after placement, so Dr. Magno can secure a temporary denture restoration on top the same day she places the implant! Compared to dentures anchored by larger traditional dental implants, the healing time for a mini implant-retained denture is relatively quick! Because the process is minimally invasive and happens in one appointment, you can come into Dr. Magno’s dental practice without teeth and leave with a beautiful and functional smile. Additionally, these implants are used to both replace your teeth and act as artificial tooth roots! With dental implants, your bone can maintain its shape and structure. Implant Denture Options Dr. Magno offers three kinds of implant dentures. These stable restorations include: Snap-on denture: This prosthetic can “snap” on and off your implants with ease! With an implant denture, Dr. Magno can remove that bulky upper plate, freeing your taste buds and making your denture much more comfortable. If your current traditional denture is in good condition, she can even convert it into a snap-on denture for you! Semi-permanent roundhouse bridge: As the name suggests, this denture usually stays in place on your implants, except for your routine visits to San Francisco East Bay Mini Dental Implants, where Dr. Magno will remove it for cleaning! However, you never take it out, making your smile feel natural. Permanent roundhouse bridge: This prosthetic is permanently cemented into your mouth on stable implants, functioning like your real teeth! Without a bulky pink base, your upper and lower dentures can look completely seamless in your mouth. These durable and beautiful restorations allow you to smile again with confidence!

  • Digital X-Rays

Dr. Magno is passionate about staying up-to-date with the latest technology in the field of dentistry. As a self-proclaimed “lifetime student,” she believes there is always more to learn and grow! Dr. Magno’s passion for dentistry fuels her dedication to providing patients with the best possible care. To ensure the highest quality of service, she has invested in the best digital X-ray technology for her dental practice. San Francisco East Bay Mini Dental Implants utilizes innovative X-ray technology, like a CBCT, to better treat patients like you! Trust Dr. Magno to provide excellent quality care with the latest cutting-edge technology. Understanding Digital X-Rays The main difference between a traditional X-ray of the past and the digital X-rays used now is that traditional X-rays create 2-dimensional images. While these images were certainly useful, they pale in comparison to what a digital X-ray can do! Some of the technological advancements of a digital X-ray are: Digital X-rays in Emeryville, CA | Dr. Rose MagnoQuality: Digital X-rays provide 3D images, which are high resolution and show even the smallest of details. With a three-dimensional image, Dr. Magno views your teeth clearly at every angle. Radiation: Traditional X-rays used a lot of radiation to create an image, which wasn’t good for the patient. Digital X-rays, in contrast, use a lot less radiation for their imaging, which makes newer X-rays a lot safer. Speed: Because they were on a physical film, traditional X-rays took a long time to develop and process. Digital X-rays produce images almost instantly, negating the normal wait time associated with older X-ray technology. Analysis: Due to their digital nature, Dr. Magno can zoom in, adjust the color, and create a more detailed analysis of your mouth with these images. A digital X-ray allows her to better understand your problem and what treatments you may need! Storage: Traditional X-rays used film and chemical processing to create images. Digital X-rays store 3D images electronically, allowing for easy access and more efficient sharing with the patient and other healthcare providers if necessary. What is a CBCT? CBCT stands for cone-beam computed tomography, an imaging technique that utilizes cone-shaped X-rays to create high-resolution 3D images. This machine is specifically used to aid in dental procedures, whether restorative or cosmetic. It is designed to develop an in-depth 3D model of your smile for a dentist like Dr. Magno to examine thoroughly. With a CBCT, Dr. Magno can see the intricacies of your smile and evaluate any issues your teeth may have. This innovative technology allows Dr. Magno to view problems like abnormal teeth, potential cavities, and root canal infections. From there, she will plan how to treat these ailments effectively. One example of a treatment using a cone beam X-ray is implant dentistry, which is used to replace missing teeth! A CBCT is crucial for any dental implant-related procedure. It helps Dr. Magno evaluate your jawbone and plan where to place your implant. With this technology, she can provide quality care for her patients and ensure they leave her dental practice smiling! How Digital X-Rays Help With Mini Implants To receive a traditional dental implant, you must have ample bone available in your jaw. For many who have lost teeth, however, this isn’t easy. When you lose a tooth, you also lose its root, or the part of the tooth’s structure underneath the gums. Tooth roots are embedded in your jawbone, stimulating it while you bite or chew. Without stimulation, the jawbone resorbs, losing mass and volume. Those with insufficient jawbone become ineligible for a dental implant without a bone graft, which adds to the procedure’s length and price. A CBCT allows Dr. Magno to asses your jawbone, determining how much bone you have available for dental implants. Fortunately, she uses mini dental implants instead of traditional ones! Mini dental implants are smaller in diameter, less than 3 millimeters, and consist of only one piece! Their sleek design provides many incredible advantages, including requiring less bone. Because mini implants are narrow, Dr. Magno makes a pinhole in your gum and jawbone that’s no bigger than the width of a toothpick! Amazingly, this minimally invasive procedure makes mini implants much more accessible than traditional ones, as most people have enough jawbone to support a narrow-diameter implant without a bone graft! Using a digital X-ray, Dr. Magno will assess your jawbone and plan where to put the implants to best serve you. After she places your implants, she’ll attach a temporary restoration the same day, allowing you to walk out of her practice with a confident smile!

  • Emergency Dentistry

If you were injured in an accident, such as a car accident, a sports injury, or a fall, you may have sustained a dental injury. Chipped, broken, or knocked-out teeth are common in these situations. While they might seem purely cosmetic, they can lead to significant long-term complications if left untreated. We recommend repairing damaged teeth and replacing missing ones as soon as possible to achieve the best treatment outcomes. If you need an emergency dentist in Emeryville, CA, contact us at San Fransisco East Bay Mini Dental Implants. Who Needs an Emergency Dentist? Emergency Dentist in Emeryville, CA | Dr. Rose MagnoEmergency dentistry provides urgent care for dental issues that require immediate attention. The goal is to relieve pain, address swelling or bleeding, and repair damaged teeth. Emergency dental situations often arise suddenly and can cause significant discomfort, making prompt treatment essential to prevent further complications. Common reasons for seeking urgent dental care include severe tooth pain, swelling that may indicate infection, persistent bleeding, or visible tooth damage. Emergency dentistry ensures that patients receive timely treatment to restore their oral health and restore comfort. Dental Care After a Car Accident A 2021 study of dental trauma found that car accidents caused two-thirds of the dental injuries reported. At San Francisco East Bay Mini Dental Implants, we see emergency patients every week and frequently treat patients recovering from car accidents. In the force of a car crash, your head may hit the steering wheel or deployed airbag, damaging your teeth and gums. Car accidents typically result in the following dental injuries: Cracked, split, or chipped teeth Loose teeth Tooth loss Soft tissue laceration Damage to a dental appliance like a dental implant or denture What Services Does an Emergency Dentist Offer? Whether you have sustained an injury to your natural or artificial teeth or are experiencing sudden pain, the services we provide can help you eat, speak, and smile normally. At San Francisco East Bay Mini Dental Implants, we offer a range of restorative procedures and cosmetic services for patients needing urgent care. Dental Crowns Dental crowns are caps that fit over the entire surface of your tooth to protect it. If your tooth is chipped or cracked, we can place a crown to restore the tooth’s function. Crowns help extend your natural tooth’s life by creating a protective barrier to prevent further damage. While their primary purpose is restorative, tooth-colored crowns also enhance your tooth’s appearance. Placing a crown involves removing some of your tooth’s enamel and taking impressions to ensure the crown fits perfectly. Your custom crown is fabricated in a dental lab, which takes about two weeks. In the meantime, we will provide a temporary crown to protect your tooth and maintain functionality. Once your custom crown is ready, you’ll return to San Francisco East Bay Mini Dental Implants, where Dr. Magno will securely place and cement it. With proper care, your crown can last many, many years. Dental Bonding While not as durable as a crown, dental bonding is an option for smaller chips and cracks. The bonding material is a composite resin that we match to the shade of your teeth for a natural-looking appearance. This allows the material to blend seamlessly with your smile while restoring your bite function. Patients like bonding for its easy and pain-free application. In a quick, single-visit procedure, we can apply the putty-like resin and fill the crack in your tooth. In normal circumstances, dental bonding lasts for three to 10 years. Bonding is a low-risk solution for cracked teeth: it is both budget-friendly and reversible. If you want a more dramatic cosmetic transformation later, we can remove the bonding and begin a new treatment, such as veneers. Veneers Veneers are a popular cosmetic solution to conceal chips and cracks. They are tooth-colored shells that bond to the front surface of your teeth. The most common teeth for veneers are the top 4-8 teeth that show when you smile. While veneers are more expensive than dental bonding, they are stain-resistant and durable. When well maintained, porcelain veneers can last over 15 years before needing repairs or replacement. Like crowns, you’ll need two appointments for your veneers. At the first appointment, we’ll prepare your teeth by removing a small amount of enamel (less than is removed for crowns), take impressions, and fit you for temporary veneers. Your final veneers are customized to your smile in a dental lab. At your second appointment, we ensure the shade and fit are just right before permanently bonding the veneers to your teeth for a flawless finish.

  • Oral Surgery

Oral surgery is a broad term that refers to any surgical operation in or around your mouth or jaw. When you hear the word “surgery,” it may sound intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be. At San Francisco East Bay Mini Dental Implants, we’re committed to painless dentistry and want to make your experience as comfortable as possible. We prioritize minimally invasive techniques, like using mini dental implants instead of traditional ones and laser dentistry over conventional surgical tools. These approaches reduce discomfort, speed up recovery, and deliver exceptional results. With our gentle approach and advanced technology, you can feel confident that your dental care is in capable and compassionate hands. What Is Oral Surgery? Oral Surgery in Emeryville, CA | Dr. Rose MagnoOral surgery addresses various issues to improve your mouth’s health, function, and comfort. It’s used to treat problems like missing teeth, impacted or damaged teeth, and restricted tongue or lip movement. Procedures such as dental implants replace missing teeth with durable, natural-looking alternatives, while extractions remove problematic teeth to protect your oral health. Frenectomies correct tongue and lip ties, improving mobility and function. Oral surgery may sound complex, but with modern techniques and technology, it’s often quick, effective, and easier than you might think. Oral Surgery Procedures There is a wide range of oral surgical procedures, but some of the most common ones that we perform at our practice include dental implants, tooth extractions, laser dentistry, and frenectomies. Dental Implants Dental implants are a long-lasting solution for replacing missing teeth. A traditional dental implant consists of a titanium post surgically placed in the jawbone to support a crown, bridge, or denture. At our practice, we prefer mini dental implants, which offer the same durability and function but with many added benefits. These smaller, less invasive implants are perfect for stabilizing dentures or replacing individual teeth. They’re just as effective as traditional implants but with a drastically lower cost, quicker results, and shorter recovery time. The procedure to place mini dental implants is minimally invasive and typically completed in a single visit. Dr. Magno uses advanced techniques to gently insert the slim titanium posts through the gum tissue into the jawbone. Because of their slim construction, she doesn’t have to make incisions or use stitches. The result is a stable base for your restoration, minimal discomfort, and a long-lasting solution to tooth loss. As a diplomate of the International Academy of Mini Dental Implants (IAMDI) and a fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI), Dr. Magno is a trusted expert in providing comfortable, efficient care to restore your smile. Extraction We may recommend a tooth extraction to alleviate pain, prevent complications, and protect your oral health. For example, Dr. Magno might remove a severely broken or infected tooth that can’t be repaired. Then, she can place a mini dental implant the same day by adding bone graft material to the socket and placing the implant in the bone. This efficient method helps restore your smile quickly and effectively. Wisdom teeth removal is another common procedure—Dr. Magno performs these nearly every week, but whether she handles your case depends on its complexity. Advanced Technology for Better Extractions Dr. Magno uses the Piezotome® Cube, an ultrasonic tool that offers a gentler alternative to traditional extraction methods. Unlike conventional techniques with surgical tools like elevators and forceps, the Piezotome® Cube uses ultrasonic vibrations to precisely cut around the tooth. As a result, Dr. Magno does not have to cut the gum tissue to create a flap. This innovative technology preserves the bone and socket, minimizes pain and swelling, and reduces the need for pain medication. The minimally invasive approach also makes same-day dental implants possible, ensuring a faster and more comfortable path to replacing extracted teeth.

  • Sleep Apnea Treatment

Snoring is very common, but unfortunately, there is often an underlying cause that can be life-threatening! Sleep apnea is a sleep disorder that may seem like regular snoring but can actually be dangerous for your health. Unlike regular snoring, those with sleep apnea are at an increased risk for heart, breathing, and blood pressure issues. In the United States, about 30 million people have some form of sleep apnea, but only around 6 million are diagnosed! A CPAP machine is a common treatment for those diagnosed, as it provides pressurized air directly to your mouth or nose. However, many people struggle with this machine as it is uncomfortable to wear. Trust Dr. Magno at San Fransico East Bay Mini Dental Implants for a more comfortable sleep apnea treatment with oral appliance therapy! What Is Sleep Apnea? Sleep apnea is a sleep-related breathing disorder that results in disrupted sleep, gasping for air, and other unfortunate consequences. In general, there are three kinds of sleep apnea. The first is obstructive sleep apnea, when your head and neck muscles relax, blocking your airways. The second is central sleep apnea, where your brain doesn’t send the correct signals to your muscles, so you struggle to breathe. The third is a combination of the two previous types. No matter what form of sleep apnea you have, the lack of oxygen forces you to wake up so you can breathe again. This process may be repeated hundreds of times throughout the night, seriously disrupting your sleep. Although this natural response is life-saving, the constant sleep disruption often prevents you from truly resting. A lack of rest can stop your body from functioning as it’s meant to. Who Suffers From Sleep Apnea? There are several risk factors that make someone more prone to developing sleep apnea. Sleep Apnea Treatment in Emeryville, CA | Dr. Rose Magno Those more likely to suffer from obstructive sleep apnea are: Older adults People with obesity Those of Black, Hispanic, or Asian descent People more likely to develop central sleep apnea are: Those over 60 People taking opioid pain medication Those with heart conditions People living in high altitudes What Are the Signs of Sleep Apnea? If you feel you may suffer from sleep apnea, watch out for common symptoms. These symptoms include: Loud and persistent snoring: Snoring is an incredibly common symptom most people with sleep apnea face. While regular snoring is usually rhythmic and steady, sleep apnea snores are often interrupted by gasps or snorting sounds. Waking up frequently: While you may not recall these moments upon waking, a partner may notice any unusual breathing patterns you exhibit in your sleep. If you remember waking up a lot throughout the night or someone informs you of the habit, you may have sleep apnea. Fatigue: If you think you slept through the night but still wake up exhausted, you may have sleep apnea. Frequent pauses in sleep prevent you from truly getting the rest you need, causing excess fatigue throughout the day. Mood changes: Due to the lack of restful sleep, people with sleep apnea are more prone to developing mood disorders like anxiety or depression. Cognitive impairments: Some people with sleep apnea may experience trouble concentrating or memory loss due to an excessive lack of oxygen and sleep. Headaches: If you frequently experience headaches right after waking up, it may be a result of sleep apnea.

  • Tooth Extractions

In most cases, saving your natural tooth is a priority at San Francisco East Bay Mini Dental Implants. However, when a tooth threatens your other teeth or oral health, Dr. Magno may need to extract it to save your smile! While tooth extraction is never ideal, Dr. Magno and her experienced staff will handle your smile with care. With today’s advancements in dentistry, tooth extraction has become a routine dental procedure that Dr. Magno can make relatively painless! She will carefully remove your tooth and prepare it for replacement using innovative technology and patient-centered solutions. Signs You May Need a Tooth Extracted In most cases, Dr. Magno will only remove a tooth if it is beyond saving. If you suffer any of the following symptoms, you may require a tooth extraction. Dental trauma: If your tooth breaks, chips, or cracks due to physical injury, you may need to have it extracted. Teeth that suffer damage have an increased risk of infection and are extra sensitive to temperature and chewing pressure. Tooth decay: When enamel wears down, bacteria can penetrate the layer of dentin beneath, reaching the core of your tooth. This is very painful, as the inner chamber of your tooth houses dental pulp made of nerves, blood vessels, and connective tissues. If your tooth is decayed beyond saving with a root canal, Dr. Magno will extract it to prevent the spread of infection. Periodontal disease: Also known as gum disease, this is a serious infection of the teeth and gums that eats away at the gums and jawbone. If left untreated, it can have devastating consequences. While treatments are available, sometimes a tooth affected by advanced periodontal disease is better off extracted. Wisdom teeth: A staggering 85% of people need to have their wisdom teeth extracted in their lifetime, which makes this procedure incredibly common. When these secondary sets of adult teeth grow in, your smile doesn’t always have room for them. This can cause overcrowding, discomfort, or severe pain! Dr. Magno will extract troublesome wisdom teeth to provide you pain relief. However, if your tooth is impacted, she will refer you to an expert on wisdom teeth that will help remove your impacted tooth. Dr. Magno has extensive experience extracting teeth and caring for the smiles of patients like you. Whether you have a dental emergency or just need an extraction, visit San Francisco East Bay Mini Dental Implants for dental care you can trust! The Tooth Extraction Process While extracting a tooth is generally painless, there are two main kinds of extraction that differ in procedure. Extraction in Emeryville, CA | Dr. Rose Magno Simple Extraction This extraction method is straightforward, as the tooth needing extraction is visible and accessible. First, Dr. Magno will numb the area using a local anesthetic, keeping the procedure painless. Then, using specialized tools, she will gently remove the tooth from its socket. After removing the tooth, Dr. Magno will clean and disinfect the socket, ensuring your extraction site is free of bacteria or infection. Once the socket is disinfected, Dr. Magno will use bone graft material to fill the hole left behind by your tooth. She will then supply you with antibiotics to aid the healing of your jawbone. After an extraction, however, you shouldn’t leave your smile without it’s tooth. Dr. Magno will use this bone graft material to create a stable foundation for future tooth replacement. Surgical Extraction When the tooth is not easily accessible or visible above the gums, Dr. Magno will perform a surgical extraction. Once again, she will numb the area necessary for treatment. Then, Dr. Magno will create a small incision in your gums to reveal the bone underneath. If the tooth is now reachable, she will gently remove it from its socket. If it is still out of reach, she may break it into smaller pieces to remove individually. When the tooth has been extracted, Dr. Magno will clean the area and stitch the incision up, helping the gums heal. The recovery time for a surgical extraction is slightly longer than that for a simple extraction. Dr. Magno will, of course, provide extensive instructions on how to care for your extraction site.
